Matthew 7:24-25 (KJV)

(24) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.

(25) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

The word BUILD appears in the bible 167 times, which is an indication of its significance. In the Old Testament there are numerous scriptures that refer to God as builder or architect. It also refers to Christ as a rock, which is a form of shelter and strength. In this passage of scripture Christ gives us instruction to follow his commands. When we do, he likens us to a WISE man who has built his house on a rock. When the floods, rain and wind beat against the house it was not destroyed. The house in this illustration represents our spiritual life and how it should be constructed. If it constructed in obedience to Christ, it will last against any of the elements of the world. So we are faced with an important question. How is your house built? As we examine our lives we should constantly search the scriptures for “building material”. Well used building materials will make a house more durable and able to last against an assault from the world. What materials are you using to build with? Are you building with the advice of those who do not seek Christ? Are you using the materials made up of the temporary things of this world? If you are, your house could be in danger of being destroyed by the wind, the rain and the floods. It is important that you begin building using Christ’s blueprints as found in the scriptures. By following his plan you are ensured a house that is comfortable, peaceful, joyful and strong enough to endure the most severe storm.

At Rockwall Friendship Baptist Church it is our desire through the aid of the Bible and the Holy Spirit to build the spiritual lives of those we serve. Building is an essential part of our spiritual growth. Through practical bible based ministry we pray that you obtain the building materials you need for a spiritual life that is pleasing to God. We invite you to visit us and grow with us as strive to “Build the Kingdom of God, One Soul at a Time”.
